This is a collection of colour icons for your System, folders, and SimpleText that I collected from various Internet sources. They include prototypes for Copland (System 8) and the new Mac OS icon.

Installation
Open your System folder, hold down the option key, and drag your System file onto the desktop. This should make a duplicate System file, leaving your active System file still in the System folder. Open this duplicate with ResEdit. Then, open the "Paste Into System File" resource file included in this archive with ResEdit as well. In the "Paste Into System File" window, do a "Select All" menu command, then do a "Copy" menu command. Close the "Paste Into System File" window, and the "System" window should become active. Do a "Paste" menu command. Click “Yes” when it asks you if you want to replace the resources with those that have the same ID. Save, and quit ResEdit. Drag the System file in the System folder into the trash, but don't empty the trash yet. Drag the duplicate System file back into the System folder, and restart. If all goes well, you can empty the trash.
Repeat the same operation for the SimpleText application and the "Paste Into SimpleText" resource file.
For the folder icons, use the Finder’s Get Info box to copy and paste the icons onto your own folders.
Other Interface Goodies
Several shareware and freeware goodies can provide amazing improvements to your Mac interface. Some are functional, others purely cosmetic. Most can be found on the Internet. Give them a try:
• Church Windows – Control panel that changes your Mac's windows. Makes your windows look like those
of other platforms, including Motif, NeXT, Iris, Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 (sorry, no Copland
windows yet). But not only that, it does two other big things. First, when you move windows, the whole
window moves, not just an outline. Second, and the best feature, is that Church Windows makes the old
drag box in the lower right corner of windows useless. It allows you to resize windows by dragging the
side of any window. If the window isn't allowed to be resized, you can move the whole window by
dragging any side, not just the title bar. Infinately better than the old WDEF III control panel.
• Greg's Buttons – Control panel that not only makes all sorts of buttons 3D-style, but allows you to change
colour of windows and menus, and finally allows you to change the Mac's system font from the old
standard of Chicago 12 to selected others. Rumor has it that Espy Sans Bold 10 will be the new system
font for Copland. Have it now!
• TaskMan – Little extension that gives Mac users the great Alt-Tab feature Windows users have to switch
between next and previous applications. Who cares if it came from Windows; it works great! Other contol
panels and extensions do this, but TaskMan does it simpler and with less memory.
• Welcome – Small application that allows you to change the message on your old "Welcome to Macintosh"
screen.
• WunderBar – Control panel that puts a toolbar in your Finder windows to perform common desktop tasks,
such as moving files to the trash and deleting them, making aliases, and so on. Unfortunately, it is
currently incompatible with Church Windows. You can only get this on ZiffNet/Mac.
